GreenFiber Attic Insulation Nationwide

GreenFiber Attic Insulation: The Cypress Owner’s Guide

We stock and install GreenFiber attic insulation throughout Cypress, with most blown-in cellulose jobs running between $1,800 and $4,200 depending on attic square footage, existing insulation depth, and whether air sealing is part of the job. Same-day and next-day installs are available, and a live person answers our phone 24/7 at (657) 837-1179. Most Cypress homeowners discover their attic insulation has failed the hard way: an August electricity bill that spikes 40% over last year, upstairs bedrooms that never cool down, or a thermal camera reading during a home energy audit that shows bare spots in the attic floor they didn’t know existed.

Which GreenFiber Models This Applies To

GreenFiber doesn’t make “models” in the way an HVAC brand does. What you have in your attic is one of two product lines: GreenFiber Cellulose Blown-In Insulation (sold under the SANCTUARY and Cocoon names, with R-values ranging from R-11 to R-60 depending on installed depth) or GreenFiber Cellulose Batt Insulation, which comes in pre-cut sections. The compatibility gotcha most owners miss: SANCTUARY has a different settled density spec than the standard Cocoon line, and if a contractor tops off a SANCTUARY attic with a standard-density cellulose, you lose the R-value performance you paid for because the new material settles at a different rate. The label on the bag or the invoice from your original install is the fastest way to identify what you have. If the bag is gone, we measure settled depth and density on-site. Warmline is an independent insulation contractor, not affiliated with GreenFiber, but we install their material because it performs consistently in Southern California’s heat-cold swing pattern. We also keep Reflectix radiant barrier in stock for attics where heat gain through the roof deck is the bigger problem.

Signs Your GreenFiber Attic Insulation Is Failing

  • Uneven temperatures between rooms facing the same direction. Cellulose settles over time, and areas near attic hatches, recessed lights, and bathroom exhaust fans lose coverage first. In Cypress ranch homes with long attic spans, we often see 2-3 inch settlement in the center of the attic while the edges stay full.
  • Your AC runs constantly but the upstairs won’t drop below 78°F. When cellulose gets compressed by foot traffic from cable installers, pest control visits, or roof work, it loses its air-trapping loft. Compressed cellulose drops from R-3.7 per inch to R-2 or worse.
  • Drafts you can feel near recessed lights or the attic hatch. Cellulose doesn’t air seal. If the original install skipped air sealing around ceiling penetrations, air moves through the insulation, not around it. The insulation is there, but it’s not doing its job.
  • Damp or musty smell in the attic after rain. Cellulose absorbs moisture far faster than fiberglass. A small roof leak that would bead up and roll off fiberglass will soak into cellulose, compressing it and dropping the R-value permanently. In Cypress, we see this after the winter rain season in homes with older tile roofs.
  • Visible gaps or bare spots when you look across the attic floor. Wind washing near soffit vents pushes lightweight cellulose away from the eaves. Over years, you get bare strips along the exterior walls, which is exactly where you lose the most conditioned air.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a typical Cypress attic between 1,000 and 1,500 square feet, full GreenFiber cellulose removal and replacement runs $2,400 to $4,200 installed. If the existing material is dry and just settled, topping off with 6 to 10 inches of new cellulose runs $1,200 to $2,200. What drives the range is removal labor (wet or pest-contaminated cellulose takes longer), attic accessibility, and whether air sealing is included, which we recommend on almost every job. Every quote includes the material, labor, cleanup, and a walkthrough before we leave. Most jobs are completed in a single visit. All work is backed by the 90-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we make it right. We also honor $50 off any repair over $250 and a permanent 5% Senior & Veteran discount.

DIY or Call Us?

A homeowner can safely inspect loose-fill insulation by looking into the attic from the hatch: check for settled areas, bare spots, and dampness. What you shouldn’t do is rent a machine and blow in cellulose yourself. Blown-in cellulose requires a two-person crew, specific machine settings for GreenFiber’s density spec, and proper baffle and air-sealing work around every penetration. Get the density wrong and you’ve paid for R-38 but you’re living with R-25 after settling, and no one will warranty it except the machine rental counter. We’re on trucks across Cypress every week. If you want a trained eye on your attic, call (657) 837-1179 and a live person answers, any time of day or night.
